Our Dog Training Services

At The Art of Dog Training (TAODT), our trainers change lives—both yours and your dog’s.

Training is one of the most important investments you can make for your dog’s well-being.  Working with a professional trainer helps prevent long-term behavioral issues, create a better bond between you and your dog, and ensure a happier, stress-free life for both of you.

Waiting too long to train your dog can lead to challenges that are harder to correct later, making life unnecessarily difficult for you and your pet. Whether you’re dealing with a new puppy, an adult dog, or specific behavioral issues, we offer training programs that get results quickly and last a lifetime.

Puppy Training

Puppy Training

Want to start your puppy off on the right foot? At TAODT, we equip you with the knowledge to raise your puppy the right way. Early training, ideally at 8 weeks, is highly recommended to avoid behavioral challenges down the road. Our in-home personalized training sessions ensure you’re prepared for every stage of your puppy’s development, focusing on obedience basics like come, sit, place, and down, as well as essential care tips to keep your home puppy-proof and stress-free.   Puppy training is mostly positive reinforcement only, we do not use electronic collars on puppies.

Key topics covered:

  • Stopping unwanted behaviors (biting, chewing, jumping)
  • Crate and potty training tips
  • Socialization and puppy care advice

In-Home Dog Training

In-Home Dog Training

Obedience training lays the foundation for a well-behaved dog. At TAODT, we focus on long-term results by teaching you how to effectively train your dog, ensuring they respond to you—not just to us. Many behavioral issues arise specifically at home, and our in-home personalized sessions are designed to target these issues, whether it’s excessive barking, jumping, or chasing squirrels. Combining private training with group lessons ensures your dog can respond reliably in any setting.

Key features:

  • One-on-one private sessions to minimize distractions
  • Use of tools like electronic collars for effective training
  • Weekly lessons and group classes to reinforce learning

Group Classes

Group Classes

Group classes are crucial for building your dog’s confidence in high-distraction environments. Held every Saturday at 10am at Trout Run Park, these classes are designed to apply the skills your dog has learned in private sessions to real-world situations. Through pack walks, “place” commands on various surfaces, and extended stays, we ensure your dog can listen and follow commands even in public spaces.

Class details:

  • Saturdays @ 10am – Trout Run Park

Anxiety/Aggressive Dog Training

Anxiety/Aggressive Dog Training

Is your dog dealing with aggression or anxiety? Behavioral issues can be overwhelming, but our Behavioral Adjustment Training program helps address these challenges by teaching your dog that you are in charge, relieving them of the stress of being the leader. Most aggression stems from fear, and many anxious dogs simply need clear guidance. We help build your dog’s confidence and reduce stress, allowing them to live more comfortably.

Key outcomes:

  • Teaching your dog to understand right from wrong
  • Building confidence and reducing anxiety

We train you to train your dog. You will learn the proper commands, tone, and posture needed to ensure your dog continues responding positively.

We use positive training methods, motivating your dog with rewards and praise rather than fear, intimidation, or physical correction.
