Aidan Rosequist

Owner and Head Trainer

Aidan Rosequist is the owner and head trainer at The Art of Dog Training (TAODT). With over 15 years of professional dog training experience, Aidan has trained thousands of dogs across a variety of disciplines, including family pets, service dogs, therapy dogs and protection dogs. His passion for dog training is rooted in his belief that well-mannered dogs lead happier, more fulfilling lives. Through clear rules and consistent structure, Aidan empowers both dogs and their owners to live harmoniously.

Aidan has extensive experience working with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments. His specialties include:

  • Obedience Training: Teaching foundational commands and ensuring long-term retention of learned behaviors.
  • Behavioral Modification: Addressing and correcting challenging behaviors, such as aggression, fear-based reactivity, and extreme anxiety.
  • Service Dog Training: Training dogs to assist individuals with PTSD, psychiatric needs, and other disabilities, helping them navigate daily life with confidence.
  • Therapy Dog Training: Preparing dogs to provide comfort and emotional support in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and other community settings.
  • Protection Dog Training: Training protection dogs for personal and family security, with an emphasis on control and discipline.

Aidan’s personalized, in-home training sessions allow him to tailor his approach to the unique needs of each dog and owner, addressing specific challenges within their home environment.

Aidan’s philosophy is centered on creating a balanced relationship between dogs and their owners, using a combination of structure, leadership, and positive reinforcement. He believes that well-behaved dogs are happier because they understand what is expected of them, which reduces confusion and stress.

Aidan works closely with owners to ensure they develop the leadership skills necessary to maintain their dog’s training. By involving the owner in every step of the process, Aidan’s approach not only trains the dog but also equips the owner with the tools to reinforce the behavior long-term. His training often includes the use of modern tools, such as electronic collars, which help simplify the process and ensure quick, effective results.

In addition to private sessions, Aidan incorporates group classes to help dogs learn how to obey commands in distracting environments, ensuring that they are well-behaved not just at home but in public as well.

Aidan’s personal experience with his own dogs has deepened his understanding of dog behavior and training. He shares his life with three beloved dogs:

  • Phoenix, a Belgian Malinois trained in protection work
  • Arrow, a Golden Retriever trained as a therapy dog
  • Zen, another Golden Retriever trained as a service dog

Aidan’s personal dogs serve as excellent examples of the training methods he uses with his clients. He has applied the same principles of structure and leadership to raise confident, well-mannered dogs that excel in their respective roles.

Outside of his professional career, Aidan enjoys a wide range of hobbies and interests. He is an avid photographer, capturing moments in nature and everyday life. He also enjoys music, movies, hiking, and puzzles, which help him unwind and stay connected to the world beyond dog training. His diverse interests and love of learning shape his approach to training, as he constantly seeks new ways to improve his craft and stay engaged with the world around him.

Aidan’s hands-on, personalized approach, combined with his wealth of experience, ensures that every dog and owner receives the highest level of care and attention. His focus is not only on training the dog but also on empowering the owner to maintain the dog’s progress long-term. Here’s why Aidan stands out:

  • 15+ years of experience working with thousands of dogs across various disciplines.
  • Personalized training plans tailored to the unique needs of each dog and owner.
  • Comprehensive programs that cover obedience, behavioral modification, service, and therapy dog training.
  • A genuine passion for helping dogs and their owners build strong, lasting relationships.
